Puigpunyent village is only a five-minute walk away and Palma de Mallorca, the island's beautiful capital, is fifteen minutes away by car. There are large selections of splendid beaches, magnificent golf courses, and architectural and historical sites within a 30 minutes range of the hotel. Puigpunyent itself is one of the few Mallorcan villages on the island untouched by tourism. Its authenticity has been carefully retained.

The History
Son Net is one of the oldest properties in Mallorca, and its history dates back to before the Roman invasion. Huge stones were used for housing in Son Net during the Talayotic age, as in Britanny.

After the Vandal and the Byzantine occupations of the island, the Arabs conquered Mallorca in 911. During this period Son Net and the whole island were at the height of their splendour. The Arabs built elaborate irrigation systems and made Mallorca an agricultural paradise. The stone walls that can be seen all over the island are the best testimony of their work.

In 1229, when the Christians conquered Mallorca, the area of Son Net and its surroundings were given to the Bishop of Barcelona, one of the most influential people during that period. The prosperity of Son Net was one of the largest in Mallorca and was called Pariatge.

Son Net was divided into different parts, called El Palmer, La Granada, Conques, Calprida and Ortolutx, and these were given as rewards to some the most prominent knights so that they would protect the Christian interests on the island. One of these knights came from the Net family, and in 1453 the finca was given the name of Son Net for the first time.

During this period, Son Net was the heart of Puigpunyent, with the family living on the prosperity and the peasants and servants lining in the village at the bottom of the hill.

The shape and size of the manor house dates back to 1672. When the Net family died out in 1863, the finca was divided into 27 smaller properties, of which Son Net itself is still one of the largest, with its impressive position offering magnificent views and unsurpassable tranquility.
