LLUCMAYOR - "ES GALDENT"
When you enter this restaurant, you won't believe what you see. You are in a Mares-stone cave with the dimensions of a cathedral. All new visitors first take the time to look around before they sit down at the rustic tables and overlook the enormous walls and ceilings of the cave. But also the food of restaurant "Es Galdent" is fabulous. Typical mallorquin dishes are served and we can recommend i.e. "lechona" (suckling pig) and the very good Paella. Route description: From S'Aranjassa you drive in direction to Lluchmayor, about 1 km before the village you will find a sign post on your left side. Follow this sign along a narrow lane until you reach the restaurant. "Bon profit"

PORRERES - "CENTRO"
The restaurant "Centro" in Porreres, is far from the mass tourism areas. It's located in a one-time church garden, where you sit in the shade of the lemon trees. As well as eating a la carte, you can also enjoy the daily menu and choose from six different starters and six main courses all for 900 ptas including dessert. We can recommend the oven baked fish and „lomo con setas", a pork dish with local mushrooms. Calle Bishe Campins, 13 between the market and the church.

ALARÓ - "ES VERGER"
Nearly unknown and an insider tip, is the restaurant "Es Verger" in the mountains above Alaro. To reach it you have to drive an adventoures serpentine road from Alaro in the signposted direction "Castillo". The arduous trip is well worth it as you have a marvellous view over the complete island. In the rustic restaurant you will receive, in our opinion, the best roast lamb on the island. After your meal you have to try Francisca's well known "Cremadillo"... a typical Majorcan friendships drink…..and then…….. (you'll find the way back down much easier :)

ARENAL - "MOLI C'AN PERE
Usually El Arenal is only known as one of the tourist spots of Mallorca, therefore it's really surprising to find here a typical Mallorquin Parillada (BBQ). It is situated in an old mill, dating from 1631 and has still retained all the charm of the past centuries. Specialities of the house are the grilled dishes freshly prepared in front of your eyes on an open fireplace. Be it grilled rabbitt or juicy suckling pig, fresh king prawns or Mallorquin sausages (try the butifaron con cebolla) ... it's your choice. Everything tastes good. You will find the Restaurant "Moli C'an Pere" on the road from El Arenal to Lluchmayor just 500 meters after the roundabout.

S'ALQUERIA BLANCA - "ES CLOS"
This restaurant fitting is especially recommended during the warmer months. Es Clos is situated in a finely restored manor house and is famous for its light and fresh Mediterranean cuisine. In summer you can dine in the romantic shady gardens and will be waited on by the friendly lady owner. The house specialities include all kinds of see food which are prepared and served in a wide variety of dishes.

PALMA - "SA PREMSA"
Equally loved by the Mallorquins and the island's foreign residents and visitors, is the Restaurant "Celler Sa Premsa" in Palma. In the roomy interior, with its very rustic ambience, one sits at sturdy wooden tables and enjoys the best of Mallorcan cuisine. From simple dishes to fine lobsters, the menu offers something to suit all tastes and pockets. A superb Paella, for example costs from 800 Pesetas, Sucking Pig 900. There is also a very reasonable daily menu and by some dishes you can even order a half-portion.
Plaza Obispo de Palou. Daily 12:00 - 16:00 and 19:00 - 23:00 hours.

TAPAS
We would like to indroduce you to the daily snack of the Spaniards: the "tapas". These are a wide variety of delicious hot or cold dishes served on small plates. There is a nice anecdote about the origin of the word "tapa" (=lit).......when the priest in the past entered the local bar, men covered their drinks with a small plate with a snack on it.......not that the priest didn't recognized the brandy or hierbas ;) Nowadays you won't find any cafeteria or bar in Mallorca where you can't order tapas. Some of the best one's on the island with a selection of more than 50 dishes are:
"El Bodegon" at the Avda. Con de de Sallent no.6 in Palma.
"La Taberna del Caracol" in the old part of Palma, close to the Cathedral.
"El Barrigon" in the artist village of Deia.
"Sa Font" on the main road of Santa Maria del Cami.
Tip: Take a trip on Sunday morning to the car boot sale of Consell (lots of antiques) or the Sunday market of Santa Maria and combine your day with tapas at Sa Font.
