SHOPPING-TIPS:
It is widely known that Mallorca and especially Palma is a shopping paradise. But where are all the famous shops? We have selected a few which hopefully will help you around the next time you visit our beautiful island:
Centro Porto Pi - maybe the best shopping mall in Mallorca with many exclusive stores. At the end of Paseo Maritimo shortly before the motorway towards Andratx.
Colmado Sto. Domingo - a typical Mallorquin grocery store in ArtáDecor design. Delicatessen, spices and fine liquors. C/.Sto. Domingo 1, Palma
Zapatos - The best shoe shops are to be found at C/. San Miguel in Palma
Av. Jaume III - The most exclusive shopping street in Palma. Here are all the fine stores from international fashion designers and jewellers such as Cartier e.g.
Ceramics - well selected pieces and nice souvenirs you will find at "Man de Mallorca", just behind the cathedral. More pottery, Mallorquin tiles etc can also be purchased in many shops in Felanitx.
Ensaimadas - this well known and famous Mallorquin pastry is available in any bakery, but the best ones are surely at the "Forn des Teatre" at the Plaza Weyler.
Wine - One of the best wine cellars you will find in Petra, the Bodega Miguel Oliver, C/Font 2. More cellars are in the vine culture area of Binissalem
Flea market - Every Saturday morning at the beginning of the avenida Alomar y Villalonga. We can also recommend the Sunday markets at Consell and Binissalem
Weekly market - In our opinion the most colorful and charming is in Sineu, every Wednesday morning. (See below)

VILAFRANCA
Vilafranca (between Palma and Manacor) is well known for its main street where there is an abundance of small shops colourfully displaying and selling a wide variety of Mallorcan products. Fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables, huge pumpkins, mouth-watering melons, as well as chains of dried paprikas, tomatoes, onions and garlic, are decoratively arranged. Island specialities ranging from walnuts in honey, home-made jams and liquors to all kinds of sausages (e.g. the famous Sobrasada) plus various cooked meats straight from the farmhouse, can be purchased. The vendors are very helpful and will allow you to sample their wares before you buy.

WEEKLY MARKET IN SINEU
During your holiday it's always worth a visit to one of the markets which are to be found in many of the islands villages. The most fascinating of these takes place every Wednesday in the small town of Sineu, close to Inca. Apart from the usual stands selling fruit, vegetables, meat and dairy products, there is a large choice of Mallorcan hand made arts, pottery, leather goods etc. as well as the farming community offering all kinds of live animals. Here you can buy almost anything cows, horses, donkeys, sheep, hens, goats, ducks, or even a kitten to take home. It's also particularly interesting to observe the locals bartering. Remember, never accept the price at a market, always deal. The market in Sineu opens at 8:00 but get there early as it soon becomes very busy. After you have finished your shopping and sightseeing trip take a lunch in one of the excellent cellar restaurants or taverns around the market square (the best are close to the church).
